DVD: Archieve Reviews Vol. 1.1: M. Night Edition

The Sixth Sense

Undoubtedly the #1 Thriller All-Time

'The Plot' Hollywood superstar Bruce Willis (Armageddon, The Siege) brings a powerful presence to an edge-of-your-seat supernatural thriller that critics are calling one of the years best movies! When Dr. Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis), a distinguished child psychologist, meets Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment- Forrest Gump)... a frightened, confused eight-year-old... Dr. Crowe is completely unprepared to learn the truth of what haunts young Cole. With a Riveting intensity you'll find thoroughly chilling and utterly unforgettable, the discovery of Cole's incredible 6th sense leads them both to mysterious and unforeseeable consequence!

Wow, I don't know how many times I watched this DVD this movie is excellent, there is no other film I was so excited about and wanting more after the end credits than The Sixth Sense. From beginning to end this film will not let you stop watching it till its over. Boy, does this film have some great actors Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment have great chemistry in this film. M. Night Shyamalan does a great Directing job with this one he has one of the greatest minds in all of the Thriller genre. This film will fit in all groups of people if you like Romance you'll like this, if you like Suspense you'll it this film, it has a great range for everyone so that everyone will like this film.
On the DVD it has a great showing of the making of the film, from the making through the casting, the music and scoring even up in till the marketing. It also includes a Conversation with M. Night Shyamalan. This DVD also has some great short of M. Night Shyamalan's First Horror Film when he did when he was a child.
This is one of the Best Thrillers of all-time.

The Unbreakable

M. Night Shyamalan does it once again.

'The Plot' Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson star in the mind-shattering, suspense-filled thriller that stays with you long after the end of this riveting supernatural Film. After David (Bruce Willis) emerges from a horrific train crash as the sole survivor - and without a single scratch on him - he meets a mysterious stranger (Samuel L. Jackson). An unsettling stranger who believes comic book hero's walk the earth. A haunting stranger whose obsession with David will change David's life forever.

This film is a great suspenseful thriller that will have you keep think about this movie even after its over. M. Night Shyamalan the Director of what in my mind is the best Thriller of All-Time The "Sixth Sense." He brings this great story about a man who walks this earth with a strange power but doesn't know it. I really like comic book movies and in my opinion this is one of the best ones out right now. This contains a great sense of realisation, meaning that Bruce Willis character, David Dunn, is just like a regular human being just like any of us. The Same thing as in the Sixth Sense, which is that some scenes in this film will have you in shock and awe.
The DVD its really the same thing. The Content on this DVD is incredible. the Behind-The Scenes section is a good one as of the one in the Sixth Sense. The Deleted Scenes is above all my favorite section on the DVD, there is this one scenes where it will make you laugh, pretty much if you already seen the movie.
Overall this is a Must Buy.

Signs

M. Night Shyamalan's first Alien film.

'The Plot' From M. Night Shyamalan, the writer/director of the Sixth Sense an Unbreakable, comes the story of the Hess family in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. One morning they wake up to find a 500-foot crop circle in their backyard.
Graham Hess (Mel Gibson) and his family are told extraterrestrials are responsible for the sign in their field. They watch the news as crop circles are soon found all over the world.
Signs is the emotional story of one family on one farm as they encounter the possibility the world is being invaded.

I like most of M. Night Shyamalan's movies I think he does a great job at directing and writing his movies, with no exception with this one. Signs is something that I really enjoyed. I thought that the story-line was greatly put together really nicely. Mel Gibson does a great job, there's really no big surprise there he always does a nice job. The Visuals are great too. There's this one scene this really got my hairs standing on my neck with is this one time we see a home video of a birthday party. This film is just simply amazing.
The DVD is great in the Making-Of part of the DVD simply because it shows all the sets that M. Night Shyamalan took in creating Signs, which is very nice too watch. The Deleted Scenes are nice too. Overall this DVD is well worth its price.

The Village

M. Night Shyamalan always can make a great movie with a great twist.

'The Plot' M. Night Shyamalan (Signs, Unbreakable, The Sixth Sense), the director who brought you the world's greatest thrillers on DVD, now creates his most thought-provoking triumph yet... breaking international records and dazzling audiences around the globe! The Village is a smart, edge-of-your-seat chiller crawling with terrifying surprises and frightening twist and turns. An isolated, tight-kint community lives in mortal fear of an oppressive evil inhabiting the forbidden forest just beyond their tiny village. So Frightening that no one ventures into the woods... until one village dares to face the unknown. With unforgettable performances from Joaquin Phoenix, Sigourney Weaver, William Hurt, Adrien Brody and newcomer Bryce Dallas Howard, this powerful motion picture is one of Hollywood's best psychological thrillers and ranks with the best of Hitchcock!

The beginning of this film it very, very slow and to watch this film will most likely make you want to turn this film off. The talking in this film can really start you off on a bad foot because the talking is from the 18th century, which is were this takes place... The actors and actresses in this film are amazing they brought some of the best, Sigourney Weaver and Adrien Brody being a couple of them. One person I'm really surprised in was Bryce Dallas Howard who was in her first major film that she was the lead character. The Direction was great, done in my opinion was done by one of the best Directors of our time, M. Night Shyamalan, who has made the greatest thrillers of all time.
In the DVD, it's pretty much the same as all of the other M. Night Shyamalan's DVDs it mostly contains, A thoroughly in-depth making of the film, Deleted Scenes. It also contains the Dairy of Bryce Dallas Howard. The DVD also includes like also in all of M. Night's films is a small scene from his childhood movies. Which all these features make a great DVD so this is a great one to get.
This is a Buy.

DVD: Flightplan

Flightplan, starring Jodie Foster. While I was watching Flight plan this film reminded me of an old Hitchcock thriller.

The film Flightplan is about a mom, Kyle Pratt (Jodie Foster) who is flying from Berlin to America on a new double deck jumbo Jet with her young daughter played by Marlene Lawston who is new to the big screen. While 40,000 feet up in the air something as happened Kyle as lost her daughter, and the flight crew as no recognition of the daughter ever been on board.

With so many twists and turns this film takes you through you would will think your on a roller-coaster. I always love a film that really make you think and then second guess your self, which this film does nicely. Which makes this a great film that puts you on the edge of your seats trying to figure out what has been going on through the sort, sort of catching up on the facts you know and trying to put the puzzle together.

What is a great plus for this film is the remarkable cast it as come great talent of actors ranging from Sean Bean who as been in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Peter Sarsgaard who I thought did an amazing job on his role in Shattered Glass, their is also Erika Christensen, Kate Beahan. That right their shows that this film is packed with incredible talent. The one who i thought did the best in Flightplan I must say it had to have been Peter Sarsgaard he played Carson who was a air marshal who is just trying to calm Jodie Foster's character and stop scaring tall the passengers, and of course Sean Bean and Jodie Foster gives great performance.

The feel of the film is really gives a great sense of claustrophobia which really makes the suspense feel real as clues show themselves. Plus you can't make it feel larger than it is because of the whole movie is base in a plane so its very limited to what you can do. Which leads to the plane, the sets were amazingly done everything in the film looks real and authentic which can give a good vibe to the film.

Overall this film has a great deal of suspense that we rarely see in the theaters these days in the world of cinema. With all the twists and turns you will really enjoy this film and feel like your a part of the story as you watch it. So I recommend this film that you should See.

DVD

Specs.

Flightplan is present in both Full Screen and Widescreen Formats. I picked to to the Widescreen edition of Flightplan, and it comes in 2.35:1 Widescreen enhanced for 16x9 Televisions. with French, Spanish and English both 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS Surround Sound. Their are French, English, and Spanish subtitles to the DVD also. The film runs around 98 minutes, and is digitally remastered. The Special Features Include:

  • The "In-Flight Making of Flightplan" Featurette.
  • "Cabin Pressure: Designing the Aalto E-474" featurette.
  • Filmmaker Commentary.
  • A Couple of Easter Eggs.

The DVD aspect of the film, Flightplan was some what good. Its nothing that should make you go out and buy the DVD right away. In the DVD there is several section to the Making Of featurette, from Pre-Production all the way to Post Production with the Special Effects. Each one is about five minutes long. The Designing feature to me was really interesting. I liked how for the film they went to the roots of the great special effects of film making, miniatures. That to me was the best part of the DVD.

Overall the DVD aspect isn't anything like I said to go out and buy for. That's the negative about thriller and suspense film on DVD that once you watch it once its really not fun on any of the other times after the first showing, so the real thing that your buying on DVD is one showing of the film, and about four different types of features. So if you to you how you interpret the film, but for me i have to say that this DVD is only a rent.

DVD: Art School Confidential

After watching Art School Confidential, I took a very long time just trying to compute what the hell was happening in this movie. I really makes you think.

This is a comedy/ satire, about a young man who comes to a Art School and as a desire to become the best artist in the 20th Century. As he is there, he meets the girl he's been waiting for, he quickly falls in love with, but their is another one who he will be competing against. Unknowing what was happening before his arrival to the school our main character Jerome (Max Minghella), he learns that several murders have been taken place on the campus and the murder was still on the loose. As Jerome tries to find his art "Style" he begins to loose control. Also into the mix the movie also brings a sort of murder mystery to the story which is much different from the murder mysteries they have out now. The murder aspect of the film is about the school Jerome's at their is a strangler that has been terrorizing students.

The story aspect of this film is one that really hasn't been like the ones shown in quite a while. The movie's storyline is good, I loved it. I thought it did a good job at round out the characters and making at lease one of them you can relate to. Another great thing for this movie is that its packed with great actors. There are John Malkovich, Jim Broadbent, Joel Moore, Anjelica Huston, and Ethan Suplee who is in the great TV show My Name is Earl. The Two principle Actor I thought did a fantastic job in the film Sophia Myles who plays the love interest, Audrey Baumgarten, who I remember fort her role in Underworld one and two as Erika, which I really liked her character in those movies, and the other actor Max Minghella who to me is very new, I think I've seen him in only a couple of films, but I liked him in Art School Confidential I thought he played a great job. I liked the transition through out the film. Also the Director Terry Zwigoff, I thought did a great job, I also liked his other film Crumb which is based on the cartoonist Robert Crumb and that is a great film.

Overall they film as a good feel to it it paces itself very well, the story is a good enjoyable film, the movie as a great set of actors, and the direction is good. So overall this is one of the films that you must see. I recommend to everyone that this movie, Art School Confidential is a Must See and I hope most will like it.

DVD

Specs.

Art School Confidential comes in 1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen, with English, Spanish, Portuguese 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound, and French Dolby Digital audio tracks. With English, French Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese Subtitles. This is Master in High Definition, and is 102 minutes in length. The Special Features are:
  • Making Of Art School Confidential.
  • Sundance Featurette.
  • Deleted Scenes.
  • Additional Scene: Testimonials
  • Bloopers and Alternate Takes.
  • Previews

The Features are good for a film being a low budget project, most other low budget film sometimes never even have any type of Special Features on the DVD. So that's one big plus for the DVD, I liked the Bloopers and Additional Takes but the one that really jumped out at me was the Previews. Now I mostly just ignore the Previews because they are just the previews you see at the beginning of the DVD, but There were about three pages of great films that they recommend which I really enjoyed.

The DVD of Art School Confidential is a great buy for anyone, the DVD contains come great extras, and straight forward, the movie is awesome. So you really can't go wrong with buying this DVD. The DVD is a Must Buy in my book.

DVD: Archive Reviews Vol. 1.0

Elektra: Directors Cut.

What can a Director's Cut do?

'The Plot' More eye-popping action, added visual effects and a rocking sound remix for the ultimate home theater experience make this unrated Director's Cut of Elektra a must own Collector's Edition DVD! Packed with hours of in-depth extras, this 2-disc set includes an all-new audio commentary track, production and mythology documentaries, deleted/extended scenes and much more.
Superstar Jennifer Garner proves that looks can kill as the sexiest action hero ever to burst from the pages of Marvel Comics. Restored to life after sustaining mortal wounds in Daredevil, Elektra (Jennifer Garner) now lives only for death as the worlds most lethal assassin. But her latest assignment will force her to make a fateful decision in the ultimate battle between good and evil!

This Director's Cut does work, and it works great. There are some new parts put into the film, which I really liked, mostly the line in one of the parts goes, "Hey, dickhead. I bet 100 bucks that you die before Elektra." It was really great. There's some scenes that you can tell they alter but they look OK. I really can't see were the "Rocking Sound Remix." Overall I like what Rob Bowman did with this Directors Cut, but I wish there was some sort of choice we could have got to put the Deleted Scenes or the Altered/Extended Scenes into the film instead of watching them only on the second disc.

The DVD is also great. I wish they would have added some of these extra content into the regular version, and it would have been three times better. The extras in this Director's Cut are amazing I really thought the "Relentless: The Making of Elektra Part I" Production Documentary was great, I really enjoyed that one the most. Also for the true Elektra Fans they have a Documentary withe The Creator of the Elektra comics, Frank Millerwhich is the Elektra: Incarnations" Mythology. They even have the one Deleted scene that I was Really looking forward too, which was the "Go Game" with Stick and the Leader of the Hand. This just shows that the Directors know a lot more than the studio and their powers of altering. Overall This is a Must Buy.
The DVD comes in 2.35:1 Anamorphic Widescreen with 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound, with English and French subtitles. Elektra Directors Cut is 99 minutes. Special Features Include:
  • Full-Length Commentary by Director Rob Bowman and Editor Kevin Scott.

  • Multi-Angle Dailies

The Jacket
A Outstanding Thriller.

'The Plot' Jack Starks knows little about who he is. Nor does he know why he's bound in a straitjacket and subjected to bizarre psychiatric treatments. But even more stunning fate awaits this amnesia-stricken Gulf War veteran: the treatments thrust in into the year 2007- where Jack learns that he died in 1993.
Impressive film making talents join forces for The Jacket, a mind- and genre-bender of a psychological thriller produced by Peter Guber, George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh. Academy Award winner Adrien Brody (The Pianist) plays Starks, the time traveler running out of time. And Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl), Kris Kristofferson and Jennifer Jason Leigh bring additional star wattage to eerie events that reach beyond time, beyond fantasy, beyond life itself.

Thou I must say in the beginning of the this movie it gets very, very slow but boy does it make up for it towards the end. This is the best Thrillers I've seen in a long time, they way they put it together it could be very confusing, but if you stick with it till they end you won't be disappointed. I must say they have some of the great actor and actress to play their parts, they were great. From Academy Award Winner Adrein Brody, and another great role from Keria Knightley. I also really liked how they transitioned the Jacket into the story-line, I thought that worked out very well. Overall I think Adrein had another in my opinion an Oscar performance.
The DVD however, it does not content in my opinion a worthy set of Special Content the DVD contains two features, yes two, but they two features are combined of different features. As of the Deleted Scenes are combined with the Director and the Screenwriter talking about the film. Overall they Features really don't lead up to the greatness of the Feature Film but I guess it could do. This is a Buy.
This DVD of The Jacket as English, French, Dubbed in Quebec audio with English, French, Spanish (Film Only) Subtitles and runs around 103 minutes. The Special Features are:
  • The Jacket: Project History and Deleted Scenes
  • The Look of the Jacket: Special Effects Featurette
  • Theatrical Trailer

Leon: The Professional

One of my favorite actors in is this one and he does a great job.

'The Plot' Jean Reno (Crimson Rivers), stars with Gary Oldman (Batman Begins) and Natalie Portman (Star Wars Episodes I-III). When a Psychotic Federal Agent (Gary Oldman) wipes out her entire family, twelve-year-old Mathilda (Natalie Portman) is taken in by her neighbor, Leon (Jean Reno), a quiet man whose only interest are his houseplants, movie musicals and killing people. Leon is a professional assassin, a gentle soul who happens to be the best hit man in the business. When the revenge obsessed little girl insists on becoming his protegee, Leon reluctantly agrees and begins teaching her the tricks of his trades. But when Mathilda's rash attempt to murder the Fed ends up in her capture, it's up to Leon to try to rescue the girl before it's too late.

The is a great film.I really liked it. Right off from the beginning this film draws you in. Also, in the first couple ten minutes you can find out all what this movie is all about. Jean Reno is one of my favorite actors and he is great in this movie. In her first film Natalie Portman is excellent. Now this I think has the best "Bad Guy" ever to be in the films, just the way he actor is so great. This film also has some great comedy scenes that moves the film along. There is a sort of awkward thing in this film, and it the love relationship between Leon and Mathilda, which is weird because of the total age difference.

On the DVD, since its a deluxe edition it has two disc and on the second one it as pretty long Documentaries. These are some great features too. Which make this film a good buy.
Overall this a Must Buy.

Leon: the Professional as English With 5.1 Surround Sound, also English DTS,The Subtitles are English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and runs around 133 minutes, Special Features include:

  • 10 year Retrospective
  • Jean Reno: The Road to Leon
  • Natalie Portman: Starting Young
  • Fast Track

Some thing that any comedy or Adam Sandler fan would enjoy. All the actors actors do a great job, Adam Sandler and Kate Beckinsale do an OK job at acting their are some great comedy parts that Adam Sandler brings in. For me I thought Morty, Christopher Walkens, character really stole the film i liked his expressions in the film, mostly during when he was showing Adam Sandlers character about the remotes uses he was quite funny.

Another thing I was quite happy about was that aside from the main comedy their is a small part of emotion in it which was quite good, with a great thanks to the Score also.

DVD: Scrubs Season 4 (TV)

Scrubs, which has been running since the early 2000s, 2001. The TV show really became a hit instantly. With qurikly, random humor this as to be one of the best show that is still airing on the television.

Season 4 is one of my favorite seasons that as some of the best Episodes ever in the database of Scrubs Episodes.

Season Four also as to be one of the best Seasons out their with guest stars such as Matthew Perry, Tom Cavanagh, Molly Shannon and many many more.. In this Year were the crew of Sacred Heart becomes to becoming residents and Elliot makes a move that will shock her friends.

The Cast of Scrubs have some of the greatest group that anyone will see in a very long time. Such as Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, Ken Jenkins, John C. McGinley, Judy Reyes , Neil Flynn, Christa Miller who plays Dr. Cox's ex-Wife, and my personal Favorite Sam Lloyd who plays Ted. Alone that List of the main cast of the scrubs, is I must say the best on Television. The main actor where Zach Braff who is becoming now a big movie or director/ writer. Sarah Chalke who is a great actress and Donald Faison, Ken Jenkins, Judy Reyes and Neil Flynn. John C. McGinley was in the greatest movie about the Office day, Office Space. Christa Miller played in another great television show The Drew Carey Show.

The stories a greatly written and the actors and actresses do a great job Acting in the show. Overall if you've never seen the show I strongly recommend that you sit down Buy all the Seasons that are out and watch this one I guaranteed you will enjoy the Show.

DVD: Thank you for Smoking

Thank you for Smoking is a story about Nick Naylor who is played by Aaron Eckhart who is the Chief's Spokesman for BIG Tobacco. 'spins' for the cigarettes companies.

Thank you for Smoking as an All Star cast from Aaron Eckhart, Maria Bello,Cameron Bright,Adam Brody,Sam Elliott, Katie Holmes, David Koechner, Rob Lowe, William H. Macy, J.K. Simmons and Robert Duvall. What an fantastic line up of an all star cast.

The movie is a satire based on the Cigarette company and those who are fighting to stop the Cigarette companies. It really shows and make you sort of cheering for the main character Nick Naylor and cigarettes. The dialogue in Thank you for Smoking is great its smart, intelligent and quite funny.

One of my favorite characters in Thank you for Smoking is Bobby Jay Bliss who is played by the hilarious David Koechner, who is one of the funniest guys in Hollywood today, he's been in Anchorman: A Legend of Ron Burgundy, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. In Thank you for Smoking he played one of the M.O.D. standing for Merchants of Death, who are Cigarette promoter, Alcohol, and Guns promoter. David Koechner plays the Gun promoter, who promotes guns to the youth. He was hilarious in this film. Every scenes he was in he did great.

The story is really smart it was first a book by the author, Christopher Buckley, which I must say I haven't read so I can't compare the Novel and the feature film. Overall I loved this film and I strongly recommend everything that this is a must See.

DVD

Specs.

Thank you for Smoking comes in both Fullscreen and 2.40:1 Anamorphic Widescreen, with English 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound and Spanish Dolby Digital Surround Sound. Their are English, Spanish and French Subtitles. The film is 91 minutes long and in color. The DVD includes these features:
  • Directer and Cast Commentary
  • Deleted Scenes
  • The Charlie Rose Show Interview with Jason Reitman, Aaron Eckhart, Christopher Buckley and David O. Sacks.
  • Making of Featurette.
  • America Living in Spin.
  • Production photos
  • Trailers

The DVD includes some great additions to a DVD the best in my opinion was the Charlie Rose Show with Interviews from the Directer, Producer, Main actor Aaron Eckhart and the writer of the original book Thank for smoking Christopher Buckley. They talked about the beginning of the film production to the marketing which was very fun too watch.

The DVD and the movie is a great buy. I think anyone who loves movies this is the one to buy, it has a great all star cast and a great a well written story. Another great is the Extra features, everything is great I strongly recommend this DVD as a buy.

DVD: X-Men the Last Stand Regular and (CE)

X-men: The Last Stand or in other terms X-men 3. One of the biggest hits ever to open on memorial day weekend with a box office amount of 107 million dollars, one of the largest amount made ever on that weekend.

The X-men series is the most know comic book, ever in the industry as well as one of Marvel, The Comic book company, biggest sells. Which was created by the famed comic writer Stan Lee.

In the beginning of the X-men comic series the main characters were: Professor X, Cyclops, Jean Grey, The Beast, Angel and Iceman. Their one main enemy was Magneto.

The difference between the beginning of the X-men trilogy it started with the main characters as Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Professor X, and the newest additions were Wolverine aka Logan, and Rouge and there enemy being Magneto, and his brotherhood of evil mutants: who are Toad, Sabertooth and Mystique.

Most of the character are very true to their comic book background, with a couple of quirks of the directors or writers own stories being put in there. Which are good if you aren't a fan of the comics because you'll won't be wonder why they didn't do this or that. I'm a big fan of the comic so I wanted to see much more of a background showing the hatred between both Sabertooth and Wolverine. Another thing was I would have loved to see the original characters. like Beast who we later get in the films.

On to the Second film, X-men 2, or X2: X-men United. Which is a strong change from the first one of where their comes another faction in to fight this battle against mutants. Human. Coming into the show is a anti-mutant lover called William Stryder who is played by Brain Coxs. The story is were the time as come Were the X-men and the Brotherhood must become United and fight this war against humans and try to save Professor X.

For what is supposedly be the last X-men Story of the Whole team together, they have added some fan favorites to the mix, like Hank McCoy, The Beast, who is played by Kelsey Grammer and Ben Foster who plays Warren Worthington III, aka Angel that are new to part of the X-men. For the Brotherhood we had Vinnie Jones who plays Cain Marko, Aka. the Juggernaut, Dania Ramirez who plays the leader of the underground mutants in the comics Callisto. Also there were also many more new characters like Kitty Pryde, played by Ellen Page, who was in the last two movies who was played by a different person and not have that big of lines in the film.

The basic story for the Last Stand is about. The X-men and the Brotherhood are not allies anymore they have destroyed Stryder and now they follow there own path, The humans on the other hand have now found a way to suppress the X-gene, which is named the 'Cure'. Where mutants can get rid of their power for good.... All this leads to the side being drawn, Those who stand with Magneto and his men want to destroy the cure and have the mutant race be the superior ones, or you can side with the X-men and help the humans defend the cure and help them attack Magneto and his thugs for the Ultimate showdown on Alcatraz.

The basis of the story-line and the 'cure' comes straight from the comic strip. Overall the acting in the Last Stand I thought was quick good, as always Sir Ian McKellen he's been the best Magneto I could ever ask for. Same with Hugh Jackman's character Logan aka Wolverine. The new characters that are add to this trilogy the best one as to be Kelsey Grammer who plays the Beast, Kelsey had hit the character Beast right on the head he is the perfect Beast.

Another big thing that really disappointed some of the fan who love the X-men they/we saw the change of a new directing coming into the film. Brett Ranter come in right after Brian Singer who left off to do Superman Returns, He turned on us Marvel fan... just joking. Brett Ranter was not the first directer that they first had but I can't remember who the first guy was. He on the other hand was the one who got Vinnie Jones signed on to the picture. Overall I thought Brett Ranter did a great job with the time given to shoot.

The Special Effects in this film was great there is this very big land mark of Special Effects that will most likely know will be the moving Golden Gate Bridge in San Fransisco. Ever the Effects on all the Phoenix's Scenes where amazing all the way down to the fur on Kelsey Gammer.

If there is one film you see this summer this is the one you should see. Its a must see, it as a large all-star cast with great Acton, outstanding visual action, and a great storyline. This one in the Trilogy is the best yet.

  • Trailers
The X-men The Last Stand regular and Collectors Edition, the big differences between the two is that the Collectors Edition comes with some collecting cards and a reprint of the 1975 Giant Size comic. That's the difference the Movie comes just like you would buy the regular DVD yourself. On the other hand I do know their is a Target Exclusive where you can get the Collectors Edition in a Tin metal casing for collecting. I loved everything in this DVD, this is everything you could ask for. They do have, which they don't advertise on the back of the DVD is that it includes two sneak peeks at upcoming film, A Night at A Museum, and a very big favorite A scene from the Simpson's movie.

From my opinion I think this film is a buy and a must for any DVD collector or film fan. Though The one thing I hate is that their is a Special version of X-men the Last Stand which Brett Ranter is currently working on, So you could just rent or still buy these DVD and just rent this new version that's coming out later or you can pass on these and just get the special version later when it comes out.

DVD: Hard Candy

Hard Candy was one of those films most people won't like, mostly because it has such a true story-line(except for the torture). A lot of people will find this one offensive.

I once remembered reading that I heard that there once was a be controversy on the topics and issues that this film shows.

When I first saw Hard Candy I became very irritated at the film mostly because it kept we wonder were to I remember the actress 'Ellen Page' and then after a bout of a couple of hours and I remember, X-men: the Last Stand, she played Kitty Pryde.

Ellen Page did an amazing job in this film, and also Patrick Wilson but the one who really stood out in my opinion was Ellen Page.

This was a kind of film that really made you use you brain while you watch this film then during the film something happens and it will force you to rethink, like 'What the hell just happen' This is really great because it keeps up on the edge of suspense. There was one point in the film where I kept yelling into the screen because I was so into the film. Which made that a great film.

Hard Candy is those kind of films, that will either you love it or hate it. I am a big fan of indie film mostly because to me they have a much more story-line that make you think, instead of most of the Studio production were they care more about the box office and the action in a film.

The Film is a definite watch if this one is still playing in a theater around you go out right now and see it you will not regret it.

DVD

Specs.

Hard Candy is presented in 16x9 Widescreen with 5.1 and 2.0 Dolby Digital Sound. With English and Spanish Subtitles. The Special Features of this DVD include:

  • Commentary with Director David Slade and Writer Brian Nelson.
  • Commentary with the actors Patrick Wilson and Ellen Page.
  • Deleted and Extended Scenes.
  • 'Creating Hard Candy" Making Of-Documentary
  • "Controversial Confection" Minifeaturette
  • DVD-Rom Production Notebook.
  • Theatrical Trailer.

The DVD Special Features of Hard Candy really surprised me, it was a great addition to the film. My favorite part in the Special Features were the 'Making-Of' Feature. Mostly because of the Of it was broken down into to different sections like From the Writing of the Script all the way to the Marketing and Sales of the Script. This is one of those features that I love to watch in a film.

Overall this DVD adds a great addition to the already amazing story and acting so I would have to say that this DVD is a Must Buy for any movie fan and DVD collector.

DVD: Save the Last Dance (SE)

Well first when I received Save that Last Dance Special Collectors Edition, I asked myself what is the company doing re-releasing this film when it originally came out in 2001 that's five years from when it was made over five years ago. Then as I played the previews and I found out why they are doing this I believe of the first week of October 2006, Save the Last Dance 2 will coming to stores with Straight to DVD. Very much like the the original marketing ploy, When the sequel comes out send out the DVD with a couple new Features just to make some more money, from the buyers.

If you have not yet seen Save the Last Dance, it was a very successful film. It more that tripled its budget from the US Box Office. With in case you might not know that's amazing to earn back what you payed to make it and also make a lot of more money.

The story of Save the Last Dance is about a young woman you use to Dance, ballerina, and as some that forces her to move to the gritty of South Side Chicago, and at first she just tries to fit in, though she never wants to dance ever again. She finds some who bring dancing to her again, and love. The love is which other might not like to cope with because of the color of skin, might brake up her love of dancing again.

Watching the film after around five years, I thought it was an OK the acting, story-line was nothing to brag about but you can live with it. This was one of the major films that brought Julia Styles in to the movie business. I would also have to say this could have been the fist time MTV Film really make a name in the film studio industry. Mostly for teens at the time around 2001 you went to go and watch this film in the theaters.

If you are a huge fan of either the film or any of the actors that are in the film then this could be a must in you watch list. I like and I would have to say that this could be just a rental, rather than a buy.

DVD

Specs.

Save the Last Dance Special Collectors Edition is presented in Widescreen format. Widescreen is enhanced for 16:9 TV's . The audio comes in English in both 5.1 and 2.0 Dolby Digital Surround Sound, and French 2.0 Surround Sound. Though there is one one type of Subtitles for the film which is English.

The Special Features included:

  • Commentary by director Thomas Carter.
  • The Making of Save the Last Dance.
  • The Writer's Story
  • In Step: The Choreographer ' Story.
  • What it takes
  • Save the Last Dance - A Retrospective
  • Music Video -"Crazy" by K-Ci & JoJo
  • 2 Deleted scenes.
  • Sneak Peek at Save the Last Dance 2
  • Save the Last Dance 2 Trailer

On the Original First DVD release, Special Features:

  • Commentary by: director Thomas Carter
  • The making of Save The Last Dance
  • Crazy from K-Ci & JO JO music video
  • Deleted scenes

Comparing the Special Features , it would seem that the Collectors Edition has around four new Features with the Save the Last Dance 2 behind the scenes. Those four Features really don't add to the features at all they just in my mind show the same thing over and over so the features get very repetitive, because the Director/Writer/ or the Producer talks about the exact same thing for about ten to five minutes.

I don't think this is something tat you should go and get right away, I think if you really want this movie till it gets extremely cheap and then maybe you should buy it. In till then though I suggest that this film is a rent or not even buy.

DVD: Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift

Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, or just to put it easier Fast and the Furious 3. The Fast and the Furious trilogy was made in the beginning of 2001 with Paul Walker and Vin Diesel. I would say that this film really pushed up the popularity of street racing. With the popularity came those fellow who decided to fight against it and since most people really have to blame at least one thing with a death, many choose Fast and the Furious to be connected with many Car crashes.

from all that I thought that the first one was 'ok' and the second one 2 Fast 2 Furious I really didn't care for.

My first opinion when I sat down to watch this one I started to wonder "since when did that kid 'Buddy' from Married With Children start to act in movies, and have a southern accent." Overall the movie seemed to be good, I liked some of the actors, could care real less about Bow Wows character 'Twinkie' but besides that everyone else did a good job.

The Story aspect of it all was fine, I really like Drifting that that drag much like the first two one. I think Drifting is a really unique sport, I know we have a some what large gathering in America but Japan is where the great Drifting is. Though the story did seem much like the old story from the first Fast and Furious just now only with brand new characters and instead of Drag its drifting, I thought the drift brought a great feel to the film.

The Drifting scenes is what I think are the main selling point in the film. There are some amazing shots in this film that just look great with the amazing looking cars to the cars turning sideways and smoking coming out of the back tires. The film greatly portrays the Drifting scene very good.

If you like the first one or the second film you will most likely want to see this one, Or if you just go and have a good time I think you would enjoy this one also.

DVD

Specs:

Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift come presented in both Fillscreen and Anamorphic Widescreen (2.35:1). With English, Spanish and French Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound Audio. Also English, Spanish and French Subtitles. The film running time is 1 Hour and 45 minutes. Fast and the Furious is rated PG-13 by the MSRP.

The Special Features include:

  • Deleted Scenes
  • Tricked Out to Drift - Find out how the filmmakers customized over 230 cars for stunts, crashes and pure adrenaline.
  • The Japanese Way - Go on location with the cast and crew to high-intensity Tokyo
  • Feature Commentary with director Justin Lin
  • Drifting School.
  • Cast Cam.
  • The Big Breakdown.
  • The Real Drift King.
  • Don Omar "Conteo" Music Video.

The DVD Features of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, are great it as documentaries from when they where making it and also they showed from the beginning all the actors start to have some Drifting lessons which was cool to watch. The Deleted scenes where ok I liked how they all had Directors commentary, because most DVD don't have that commentary for the Deleted Scenes. They also show the man who really started the sport of Drifting Keiichi 'The Drift King' Tsuchiya and how he helped in the film on some of the scenes.

The DVD aspect was great its what you always would want in a DVD bonus Features section.

If you like the first one or the second film you will most likely want to put this one in our DVD Library. Or if you like cars, action this will most be a watch for you. That's a very bad thing because this really fits a certain group of people. My advice is that maybe this could be a Rent and if you liked it then you could Buy.

DVD: 'Whose Line Is It Anyway? Season 1 Volume 1' (TV)

Back in 1998 a show came on to the air and it was call Whose Line is it Anyway?. Hosted by Drew Carey, with the regular cast members: Ryan Stiles, Colin Mochrine, and Wayne Brady also owith the other guest who switch off the spots on every episode, Greg Proops, Brad Sherwood, Denny Siegel, Kathy Kinney and Karen Maruyama. With also the great music by Laura Hall.

Whose Line started during the middle of the the Drew Carey Shows, which in my opinion is a great show that ended in 2004. Whose Line is it Anyway?, has a great set of some of the best improv comedians alive today, when Drew Carey started off a a comedian, he did the Late show with Johnny Carson. Ryan Stiles come to this show also from the Drew Carey Show, he plays Drew's Friend Lewis Kiniski, Ryan. Colin Machrine and also Ryan Stiles have also stared in the UK version of Whose Line is it Anyway. Wayne Brady who I think many know from his hilarious skit on the Chappelle Show, came in to comedy as a stand up comedian and preformed at the SAC Comedy Club in Florida, before he joined the cast of Whose Line is it Anyway.

While Whose Line is it Anyway? is not on T.V anymore. Though I know the cast switched with the exception of Drew Carey, Colin Machrine, and Wayne Brady. The rest of the original Cast goes around the country and preform The Whose Line is it Anyway? tour. A couple of months ago I was lucky to get tickets to go see it, but Due to a mix up we where forced to sit in the very back of the theater complex but we got our money back. The show though was still true to the T.V Show and it was hilarious.

Overall if you've seen the show then you know that this show can make anyone laugh. Also Whose Line is it Anyway? was the most requested TV show to be put on DVD so this will most likely be a very big seller, with most places who are selling the DVD. With some of the greatest comedic and great scenarios and skits such as The Whose Line is it Anyway? most popular skit the Hoe-Down which is always a great toe tapper, and my person favorites "Greatest Hits". I very glad that this show came on DVD this is a defiantly a buy, its a must for any Library.

DVD

Whose Line is it Anyway? is presented in Standard Version that is presented in a format preserving the aspect ratio of its original television exhibition. The DVD is also presented in Dolby Digital English Surround Sound, with Spanish and French Subtitles on the Episodes only. Its in color and is 110 minutes long.

Warning: Special Features of this DVD contains mature themes and vulgar and sexually explicit language that may not be suitable for viewing by children under 17. Viewer and parental discretion are strongly advised.

The Special Features are Hilariously adult and out-there bonuses are:
  • Never before seen Out-takes (aka Deleted Scenes)
  • Gag Reels.

The DVD Special Features sections really don't look that amazing but , as like the old saying goes: 'Don't judge a book by it cover." The extras really that that to heart. The extras on the DVD has some of the Skits that were never seen except if you've been in the studio when they were shooting the scene. On the Gag Reel I was laughing the whole time on both Gag Reels both one and two. I think theses where a great set of extras which just add greatness to the DVD overall the extras just add even more reason why you should get the DVD.

DVD: Stick it

From the writer of Bring it on, come the hilarious Stick, a story about the side of Gymnastics, or what the cover of the DVD says, Gym-nice-tics. I really liked Bring It On, the first one, I thought it was very original at the time of its release, it was very funny and i thought it had some good actors and actress who played the parts. Stick it was what I thought a great film all together. It had be laughing, most of the humor would be understood to the younger crowd much of what Stick It is aged towards, A Teenage Based. Don't get me wrong I think many others would like this film, its quirky, fun, and very entertaining.

Stick It is a story about Gymnastic and a journey of a young lady named Haley Graham( Missy Peregrym) who enters the world of gymnastics, as she meets those who really aren't fond of her for example Joanne Charis(Vanessa Lengies), and her really stricked coach Burt Vickerman( Jeff Bridges). Together Haley and her teammate show the world of Gymnastics who is the boss as they conquer the competition.

Most of the Actors or Actress are relatively new to the big screen, except the Jeff Bridges who is the most in my opinion a very underrated acting in movie today. A couple of the actresses who play aside the main character are brand new to the screen except for Vanessa Lengies who you might know from Waiting as she plays, Natasha, in the movie with Ryan Renolds. I must say she was one of my favorite character in this movie on how she really wasn't that smart and she would make idiotic come backs for example when she thought a G.E.D. had to do with Drunk Driving, I was laughing pretty hard. Overall I thought the acting in the film was quite good, everyone did a great job.

The story aspect of Stick was to me very original mostly because its not like most of the films out either on DVD or in the theaters now and later. Mostly because most of the films that come out now are stuck in being much like the other one before that. Like when I going to a movie I want to see something where I can't say what the ending is because its like all other type of films that are still in the theaters today. Stick It is all I can say is a very Original story, the Dialogue was good, the actors did a good job, the direction was great what else could you want in a film. Not that much.

The film is an entertaining, fun film I don't have really anything bad to say about this one the story really explained everything quite good the characters were widely developed, what else could you ask for. Stick It is a great family film. I think this one is a defiantly watch.

DVD

Stick It:

Stick It has a makings of a great DVD packed with tons of Bonus Features from Documentaries, to Music Videos. Anything that you could what. Does it have what it takes?

Specs.
Stick It DVD comes in 5.1 Dolby Digital surround Sound, French and Spanish subtitles as well French and Spanish language tracks, with the original English tack. The DVD is prorated in 1.85:1 Widesceen format and is enhanced for 16x9 televisions.

This DVD is fully pack with extras, from Bloopers to great commentaries this is what should be a table for other DVDs to follow by for what they should but a DVD with. With the movie that is awesome from beginning to end, now added with some great bonus features this is truly one that should be in everyone's DVD library.

MOVIE: Jet Li's Fearless

Fearless is Jet Li last martial Arts Epic, and boy did he go out on a great note. Just like Hero, which came out in 2005, the look and feel is basically the same. Fearless is a story about a man who would note let his nation be the laughing stock of the would, while the nations from the west came into China and was destroying all the fighters that were there at the time and his journey to show his people can fight too.

Right off at the bat Fearless wastes no time at bring the action to the audience, With mere seconds you are engulfed into a brawls which is very nicely put together, As a matter of fact all the fights were really well done, well done Yuen Wo-Ping, who is if you done know one of the greatest Choreographer anyone as ever seen in the movies. His credits range from: Unleashed, Kung Fu Hustle, All three Matrix's, Revolution, and Reloaded, to Kill Bill Vols. 1 and 2.

Jet Li play a man named Huo Yuanjia, who is the son of one of the great fighter in China, match after match Huo gets himself such a large following that he his know throughout the lands of Tianjin. As his popularity expands and grows so does Huo head, which later lands him in a self discovery on who he was and as he develops he create a Federation to stand up against these people from the west.

Jet Li is a great actor, but he also isn't the only great actor that is in this film there is Collin Chou, who for the most part played Seraph in Matrix's Revolutions and Reload, in those two film he had a great fight scene with Neos character. There is also Masato Harada who is a actor who played in the Last Samurai with Tom Cruse, He is also a wonderful Writer and Directer I will recommend any of his film.

Fearless is a great film overall but I do know there are many people who don't like the Subtitle part, most likely on the DVD release in America it will come with a English Audio Track inside with the original language. Even if you don't like to read Subtitles while you are watching a film I would still recommend this film to you, basically because of the action is so amazing that you'll know exactly whats happening by both the fighting styles and the actors emotion in each scene.

MOVIE: The Covenant

From the writers of the story about the battle between Vampires and Werewolves aka 'Lycans', Underworld, Covenant takes the story of Witches from the witch hunting days, and how that effects a group of relatives of the witches that were hunted.

As I watched the preview of the Covenant one time on the T.V. I was very intrigued with the action I thought it was going to be very interesting movie to watch. Boy could I be any more wrong, First off I really don't know the Witch back ground but I don't think John Putnam was a witch, I don't know maybe someone can give me some incite on this but I thought he was on accused of being a witch but never was proved in the trails, and John Putnam was a main story object that moved the story along.

Another thing I was not impressed in was that the story line was very confusing. Much like Underworld going into the film you have to know a lot about Werewolves and Vampires like what kills them/what can hurt them, but in this case you must know a lot about the Witch history from the Colonial settlements area, like Boston, Virgina around there. So like with some one like me during the film I was wondering what the hell was going on, or why were they doing this.

The fight Scenes, I was was laughing at and mad, First let me get this off my chest. If anyone knows what the men witches were throwing at each other, please tell me. Most film I would like to know what exactly was I looking at it seemed like Star Warsy like they way they could move objects and so forth. Back to my first part. The 'thing' they were throwing at was it a ball of energy, or was it their power, or what. I could have put a small description of what they were in the film.

Enough of the bad thing I can go on and on, I did think the visuals were great, I thought it was awesome when the car of the Main Character broke into a million pieces and came back together, or the hundreds of tiny killer spiders. Those were a great thing in this movie basically the only good thing.

The Acting on the other hand, was for me bad. I really don't know most of he actors or actresses from and big thing but, The bad and good guys for me just over acted, They brought too much of the same facial expressions every time they talked which good get real repetitive and ignoring.

I went to see this with a Friend, and most of the time we disagree on most films and have different view on the movie but this one we both had the same reviews of the picture, we thought it wasn't a picture we should have wasted money on, because there are some great film that are out in the theater that are much better like Little Miss Sunshine.

MOVIE: The Protector

For those who don't know Tony Jaa, he stared in the action packed Ong-Bak The Thai Warrior, which in my mind is a very a underrated film in 2003. To show no surprirse The Protector (Tom yum goong) is a story about a man who goes to Australia looking to find his elephant which was stolen, on the way he finds out the one who took his elephant is a mob, So he fights his way to get him back.

To many people if you told them about this story line they would just laugh and most likely not go and see it. There's much more that meets the eye. The film is about the passion a man can have for something and tries to honor that by doing the right thin, and in this case to get his elephant back.

The acting, is one thing that I must say brings down the film. Tony Jaa does an ok job. Though most of the supporting actors and actress, I really don't know it could have been my theater I was at, the sound and voice acting was not matching the mouths movement. I would say oh that is just dubbing, but then The Father of Tony Jaa character and Tony Jaa was talking in Thai so that's what I really disliked. Another thing that could have been my theater too was The presentation was not good at all the picture was at time not that clear which makes the experience not all that good.

Action is an amazing thing that this movie brings. Tony Jaa can kick some serious a** . The action at mind was very entertaining, I as many of the others in the theater laugh, cheered, ohh and awed and everything that was happening second by second. This is truly what makes is film good. This is showing Tony Jaa at his best.

If there is one Action film you intend to see this year this is the one to go and see. Its a great bone crushing action packed film that gives even a casual movie goer a great time at the movies.

DVD: United 93

As almost five years since the horrific day of September 11, 2001. I can go on and on about all the information, recordings, what or what not the government had known pre-9/11. But this film is not about that the film is about the brave men and woman who were on the United Airlines fight number 93. Many other might not now when the right time to even talk about that day. The one thin I admire is that everyone who was thinking about doing this film, talk with all the family member and made sure that they felt that it was ok for this story to be told.

The story of this film starts off from the early morning of September 11 up till plane United 93 Crash in Pennsylvania later that same day. As a person just watching a film I was very enticed scene to scene. I like the scenes of when in the control room trying to find out what is happening, and the military trying to stop who was attacking America. The scenes in the plane where the Courageous people on the plane and you feel what it was like for most of the people on the plane. That to me was very emotion. At times I wanted to cheer for the brave passengers who fought back, it really shows who our idol's should be and I really look up to them for that. I hope for those who watch this great film I hope you do also.

Many will say why would some one made a film that shows one of the worst days of American history, this film doesn't show that it shows a group of people be come United. If you ever get a film (DVD) this is the one to own I am very much proud to have this in my collection. So I'll never forget the brave passengers.

DVD

For this one I really just have to say that I'm not going to rate the DVD portion of this film. I will say I loved the family's and the Film Documentary about he real ones on the plan That I think everyone should watch.

DVD: Silent Hill

Based on the popular Playstation Video game, in the thriller/horror gaming genre. I played the Silent hill video game long ago and forgot all about it. The one thing I remember about it was a flash light, used to search around the environment. This film has that included. As I looked over the list of the cast I was very happy to see some great names, for one. Radha Mitchell I loved her acting in Man on Fire, directed by Tony Scott, and she brought that acting to Silent Hill. She really brought great emotion into the film. Another known actor, Sean Bean who is known for his role Boromir in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and many more.

The visual style of the film is outstanding, with the ash rain, to the sets the mark of detail was so great that The building, exterior and interior are both decaying, rotting, and just breaking apart. Another part that really was a great part in the film was the lighting. Lighting is a big part in both horror and thriller genres and the parts where the main character Rose was indoors and the only lighting you can see is the flash-light, which makes the scenes more intense.

The creature's in Silent Hill are some of the best I've seen in a horror, I liked how they pick to make the creatures more contorted rather that gory. Another thing I remembered from the Game was the Red Pyramid, who was one of my favorites. I liked the way the made him, from the costumes up to the way he walks which gave a sort of creepy vibe to the character.

Story wise, the writer and director decided to change the main character from a male to a female. I thought it was a good idea especially when I saw who was playing her and I knew she was going to do great. Overall the story was excellent in both to a fan of the Video game would understand what is going on and also to someone who might be seeing this but never played the game would be able to follow the story and know what's going on.

I give this film two thumbs way up. It as to be one of the greatest Video game to film adaptation I've ever seen. I recommend that you should see this film.

DVD

When I finished watching the Dvd, I went to the Special Features section of the disc and just by looking at what was there it didn't look like a whole lot of Features, only two features where on the disc. I was like What? But as I clicked to see the first one it expanded in to an all most hour long feature from start to finish of the making of the film. After all of that I liked the special features of this one, but I was sad not to see and deleted scenes if there where some, Maybe in a Special collector version? Overall I was satisfied by the Dvd material. I've give this DVD two thumbs up also, and its definitely a buy.

DVD: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Final Fantasy. Based on the widely popular Playstation game Final Fantasy VII, going into watching this movie I really don't know much about what as been happening between the Playstation Video game and up till the start of the film. Thankfully that on one of the discs of the DVD it runs through the Video game so that anyone can understand all of the characters and the relationships between them all. Overall the story if very understanding. To me there was a great blend of both action and and story. Right off from the beginning you are emerged into a great, nearly unmatchable opening chase scene between our main character Cloud.

One of the first things you see in this movie is the Visual style. Its amazing to see exactly far we have gone in the Entertainment industry. The CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) is shown at its highest quality, It is breathtaking. This look really blows my mind everytime I sit down and watch this.

The Action is another aspect that comes from the Video games of Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy VII is no exception this is up in the ranks of some of the best fight scenes in the industry today. Up towards the end the action keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what's next.

One thing I was very skeptical. The voice acting in CGI, or other foreign films the voice is either horrible and/or not matching the mouth movements. Having seen this film many times I can say that it feels right on and watching it could be programmed to follow the English voice over.

DVD

The DVD is presented in English and Japanese 5.1 Dolby Digital Languages. English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Thai, mandarin (traditional), and Cantonese subtitles. The film is Approx. 101 minutes long and is Mastered in High Definition.

The special features of the film include the story digest of the Playstation Video game, a 'Making Of' Featurette, Venice film festival footage, sneak Peek and Up coming Final Fantasy games, trailers, and Deleted Scenes.

The special features are a great addition to the film I think if you are a Final Fantasy fan or just someone who is looking for a great action flick, this is one I prefer in either buying or renting.

DVD: Legend of Suriyothai

The Legend of Suriyothai. Francis Ford Coppola presents this great story about the actual historical events of the rise of King Mahachakrepat (Prince Thienraja) and how a young woman helped her country during a time of war. Based on real events the story deplics what would other go just to gain power, and other acting selfless and fighting on the front lines for there country.

The newcomber, to the American audience M.L. Piyapas Bhirombhakdi plays Queen Suriyothai. She does a spectacular job in the film from start to end, when she was talking you could relate to her feelings and under stand what and where the story is going. Overall the acting in this film was excellent, I'm surprised that this didn't come to the America Theaters I thought there would be a large group of people would like it.

Story wise, I will admit that at times it could feel drown out and boring but if you watch it to the end you'll understand why they had the scenes of either dialogue or action. I don't know that much about the history of Saim, but from what I have read so far it straight on.

Action in also in the film which is epic from what some of us have seen in film in Lord of the Rings or Troy. The battle scenes where amazing they had a group of twenty or more elephants on screen at once. I thought it was cool on how they controlled and fought on the elephants.

Watching The Legend of Suriyothai is a eye catcher, no that doesn't mean there great CGI or what not, but from costumes to sets they were great. The gold in the crowns, shoes, and other items was greatly detailed. Everything was very believable.

The film is a great historical and leisure film. Do to the American version which is cut up to three hours. The original film in about eight hours. This is everything you can ask for action, romance, betrayal, war, and politics. Some of what the American film indusrty as lack for some time. I would recommend this film to anyone.

DVD

The Legend of Suriyouthai is mastered in High Definition (HD) with 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound, Subtitles in either English or French. The film is also presented in 1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen.

The Special Features contain directors Commentary, Deleted Scenes, 'Making Of' Featurette, Poster Artwork Gallery, and a Photo Gallery. Most films that come from over seas rarely have and features for a dvd. The special features on this one are great compared to others like this one. Overall the DVD is a Buy.

DVD: Death Trance

Death Trance. When a coffin is stolen, a young monk begins a journey to return the coffin back to its rightful place. While the coffin thief is only using it to find a worthy enough foe. Death Trance is based on the Japanese animated manga series which as gain a lot of fame in Japan. Now a live action version comes to the big screen in a ruff, dark action packed martial arts film. Action director Yuji Shimomura brings this story to life, as much like the action in Versus he fills Death Trance in a roller coaster ride of action excitement non-stop.

The story-line of Death Trance follows closely to Book One of the Manga Series. With the Goddess of Destruction, causing pure havoc on the world and now one can stop her. Death Trance shows it all from the very beginning.

There are a wide range of unusual characters. Which is a great thing. The characters are more goth like for example there's two women who are sort of the same person if you put them together with the opposite sides of there body covered and faces pure white. Another character that reminded me as some thing in Final Fantasy Seven in one of the battles there is a sort of S&M type of guy with this large wide sword. Which was pretty awesome. With the coffin was a very young child which I thought was funny she loved to see the main character Grave (Tak Sakaguchi) getting into fights with groups of enemy's.

The action in the film was amazing it was non-stop. If you've ever seen Versus, then you'll know that the action scenes in this is good. The fight scenes become very exciting also due to the music in the film. Now after seeing this I believe everyone should have Metal/Rock music incoperated in martial arts fight scenes. The music I thought matched theme of the fight which made it great. The time line of the story is unknown, but I thought it was cool when you see the first couple of fights with swords and other types of weapons, then all of a sudden they bring in guns into the fight. Which I say, Awesome! They made many weapons that had a gun connected to the hand of the sword and another combination I won't mention.

The story-line, action, characters, and setting of the film where really well done in Yuji Shimomra's directorial debut he done a great job. Many more film will surely go his way. If you liked Versus, or like martial arts films then I recommend thins one all the way.

DVD

The Dvd aspect of Death Trance is good it comes with doubly Digital 2.0 or 5.1 sound in either Japanese or English, and ofcourse English subtitles, and 1.75:1 Adamorphic Widescreen.

The Special Features on the Dvd has a 'Making Of' feature, a interview with Tak Sakeguuhi, and the original trailers as well as of other trailers of films presented by Media Blaster. The making of feature is around ten minutes which is ok but I know there could have been more add to it, and I like the interview with Tak Sakeguchi. Overall this Dvd is a buy.

DVD: South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut

South Park Bigger Longer and Uncut. In 1997 Two men Matt Stone and Trey Parker created a Television show in where it showed a group of kids who lived in the small town of South Park, Colorado. Two years later the group of foul talking children of South Park came to the big screen.

Just much like the television show South Park Bigger Longer and Uncut play much like the show. With America on the brink of war with Canada, can the four young kids of South Park, Colorado save the world from war and also from Satan?

The film is laugh out loud funny. Who would of known that a group of kids and those around them with foul language would be so hilarious. If you like racism and vulgar language jokes then you'll most likely love this film, but if not then I think you should stay away from this one. The fans will find many of the same characters they know and love in the Comedy Central television show.

What I thought of this film was that the story was a well thought out. The songs the characters sung (like Uncle F**ker, and the Oscar nominated Blame Canada) where great and well written. Ofcourse the script was well written. The acting in South Park the creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker play most of the characters in the film which is always great acting. Other than Matt an Trey they have some other great actors like: Isaac Hayes as Chef, Dave Foley, and Eric Idle. This movie is really other then a like it or love it film. If your a fan of the South Park television Show you'll probably love this one If you're not you should keep your distance.

DVD

The Dvd of South Park Bigger, Longer and Uncut presents the film in 16x9 Widescreen version with Dolby Digital 5.1 Sound in either English or French. The Dvd also contain English subtitles, and a Interactive menu with 3 Trailers of the film.

This Dvd was very disappointing. The film alone is a great buy but in this era of Dvds There should be more special features. Three different trailers really isn't a special feature on a Dvd. I would have loved to see a "making of" Feature.

If you own every seasons of South Park on Dvd and are die hard fans than this is one that you should add to your collection. If you like the film but you are not that big of a fan I would suggest that you should rent it, but the Dvd shouldn't be a buy for you.
